Due Diligence

“Due diligence is a term used for a number of concepts involving either the performance of an investigation of a business or person prior to signing of a contract, or the performance of an act with a certain standard of care.”  Reference.com

By other business terms a “due diligence” can be referred to as an “appraisal”, a “gap analysis” or a “healthcheck”.

In all cases it is review of a current position through the process of questions and achieving answers which are  analysed to determine a resulting picture, heatmap, rating, status or degree of achievement.

To move forward and improve you need to know where you are at present.  Due diligence may be carried out by a prospective NED, SID,  Chairman, an existing board director, the Company Secretary or interested third party.
