Independent Board Evaluation
INDEPENDENT BOARD EVALUATION
An independent board evaluation where the responses are confidential and unattributed is the best way to ensure honest and valuable feedback in a board evaluation.
“A Board Evaluation carried out internally is bound to flounder right from the start” - Alan Hindley, Chairman of Genius Methods.
“Our experience shows that there is a reluctance to voice concerns where that input is not anonymous.” - Sharon Constançon, CEO Genius Methods.
We have worked with many Chairmen who, through working with us, have come to value the anonymous input and the constructive way in which information is presented in response to the exercise.
Independence means using a methodology or organisation that has no relationship or vested interest relative to the organisation. This means that the consultants and support organisations you are likely to turn to are by definition not independent. At Genius Methods we have built relationships with many of these organisations so that when they are approached they are able to contact us, as independent providers, to deliver the Board Evaluation to their client. If you would like further information on who we work with please contact us on boardevaluations@geniusmethods.com
We believe that the information to support continuous improvement of the Board as a leadership group is present in the Board room, our value is in bringing this information to the fore and harnessing it for the value of the individual members and the organisation as a whole.
We are the messengers of the information which we can see clearly in response to feedback we have received.
It is easier for a Board and a Chairman to receive this objective information which is a response to a group effort. We see a more positive buy in from board members when they feel that they have actively contributed to the solution but have at the same time not put themselves at personal risk.
We have a way in which we review the information provided and answers given in a structured and robust manner which distills the finer detail and ensures that a constructive set of recommendations are put forward.
The next stage is up to the Board – the action plan. This process of debate can be supported in any numberof ways, the key objective being to work through the recommendations and agree a practical action and monitoring plan that will ensure continuous improvement in the year and years ahead.
