Director Appraisals
There are many quotes on the value of appraisals, these adapted from Safeworkers indicate that they are applicable to all levels

“keep focused and motivated if they are going to make a valuable contribution to the company”
Directors are all individuals within a team and need to understand their own strengths and weaknesses and therefore how best they can operate within the team such that the team improves continuously.
Appraisals can be self appraisal in nature or they can be a review of others or of a situation.

4. Role competency evaluation
5. Skills and experience gap analaysis
6. CSR maturity evaluation

In the process of a Board Evaluation and in terms of most Code guidance an appraisal is performed of the Chairman and of the Directors. The Director Appraisals can be self appraisals or 360 degree style and often the combination of the two gives a very powerful three dimensional view of the situation.
Our experience indicates that a self evaluation is often more positive than that given by others but always clearly offers information on unused resources and defines what is needed to maximise latent resources. As a nation we like to help others and therefore when asked we are often the best resource of information of what is needed to engender further improvement.
